Top 10 MMA bouts of 2021

Introduction

2021 has been a very inconsistent year in MMA, a lot of ups and a lot of downs, a lot of Bantamweight and a lot of women, but one thing that cannot be denied is that there have been some above average fights in this calendar year, at least 10, some would say.

So today at BirksMMA.com we are going to tell you our top 10 MMA fights of the year, unlike many other lists which are purely subjective and the opinion of the writer, this list is purely objective, as I believe it would make the article far more interesting.

Before we begin I would like to name some honourable mentions, some fights I believe just missed the cut include:

Rafael Fiziev vs Bobby Green, UFC 265

Tyron Woodley vs Vicente Luque, UFC 260

Marlon Vera vs Chito Grant, UFC Fight Night 7

That is all for this year's honourable mentions, if you would like to support please visit our patreon page and our merch store, but without any further adieu, here is our list, enjoy!

10: Josh Emmett vs Daniel Ige

Coming in at number 10 is Josh Emmett vs Dan Ige, a fight which many overlook when discussing bouts of the year, not only is this my number 10 fight of the year, it is also my number 10 fight of the decade so far.

The fight contained everything you would like to see in a fight of such high magnitude with such skilled athletes going at it, such as punches, kicks, and even some grapples thrown in there.

Joshua vs Daniel really was a fight for the ages

1: Geoff Neal vs Neil Magny

In the words of the wise Jon Anik, “It's the motherfuck**ng Neal bowl baby”, this is a statement which will forever echo throughout the ages, as on the 8th of May 2021, the 2 baddest Neils on the planet stepped foot in the octagonal and boy, was it some bout!

This was one of the fights that gave MMA fans across the world a tingle in their pickle as soon as it was announced. “Is this gonna fight of the century?” eager MMA fans were asking each other, and they were right to do so.

If you have never seen this incredible bout, I highly advise you do so, the high level striking of Geoff “Handz of Neal” Steel was put against the highly perplexing clinch game of, the “Magnifying Glass” Neil Magny, it was like the immovable force meeting the inanimate object. This fight would go the distance and left the fans at the UFC Apex speechless, standing on their feet, clapping through the tears, as the two warriors had put on a fight for the ages.

This concludes our top 10 MMA bouts of the year list, constructive criticism is welcome, if you have any abusive criticism feel free to direct it to @ImAntoMMA on twitter.
